JUST REMINISCING ABOUT TIMES OF LONG AGO

Classmates of Istrouma High School, Family and Friends January 21,2010

This is 2010 and the 60th year since our class graduated from High School in 1950. We all are about 78 years old, some are well, some are sickly, and some have aching backs (like me). None of us are as "good looking as we once were". Most of us have reached the end of our working years--some are retired, others are figuring out how to survive and feed themselves and their families. We have reached the point in life where our children are now grandparents themselves, and they have families of their own. Whether you are satisfied with your life or not over the past 78 years really is an evaluation each of us must make by ourselves. As far me, what has been -- has been, and what is -- is. We don't know what the future holds, but we can say with the utmost assurance that we will not have as many years ahead of us as we have lived in the past, that death is a certainty, and we hope that we make the correct choice now to assure eternal life beyond the grave. As far me, I have put my complete and entire trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior (see Ephesians 2:8-9) and rest my case with that decision.

Our class records show that 68 of our classmates (IHS class of 1950) have died. I don't know the exact number in our class, but it was about 210. So, about 1/3 are deceased. You can look at the complete list of deceased classmates by going to our homepage at boodrow.com and look under the Class of 1950. I would like to make that listing more complete. Hopefully, we will eventually be able to identify the date of death and place of burial for each decedent. If you have a written obituary for a deceased classmate and it is not on our web site, please contact me or Nelson Boudreaux.

Here are the first 4 of our classmates who died in the 1960s--nearly 50 years ago.

I. LILLIAN ELAINE DYKES (Roberts)--Elaine died 50+ years ago in Vienna, Austria

IV. CARROLL GENE HOGEMAN

Remember those who have gone on before, and give thanks to GOD every day for the wonderful blessings he has bestowed on us--especially our long lives.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Raborn
