A retired pipe fitter and member of Local 198, he passed away
Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at Ochsner Hospital. He was 76 and a
resident and native of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Marine Corps
veteran. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd.,
on Friday, Jan. 26, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the
funeral home chapel on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 9 a.m. until
religious service at 10 a.m. He is survived by four daughters,
Paula Smith, Rebecca Monistere and husband Joe, Robyn Vaughan and
husband Brian, and Leigh Meza and husband David; two sisters,
Vivian Millet and Beverly Hill; seven grandchildren, Joshua Paul
Smith, Jacob Monistere, Amanda Joye Monistere, Ashleigh Vaughan,
Austin Clark, Masen Vaughan and Jason Clark; a great-grandson,
Conrad Thomas Smith, and an expected great-grandchild. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Joye "Dodie" Reed Miller;
and a brother, Glenn Miller. He was a graduate of Istrouma High
School and LSU, where he was a boxer, inducted into the Hall of
Fame, and an All-American football player. He played professional
football for the Los Angeles Rams and the Dallas Texans. He was a
member of Istrouma Masonic Lodge and the National Football Players
