Died Wednesday, June 18,
2003. She was 71, born Feb. 9, 1932, in Brule McCall. She
was a resident of Baton Rouge, a graduate of Istrouma High
School and the former wife of Bill Brister Sr. She will be
remembered as a beautiful woman who loved her family. The
body will be cremated. She is survived by her two
daughters and sons-in-law, Sonya Brister Roddy and Don
Roddy, Denham Springs, and Sheri Brister Dupuis and Larry
Dupuis, Carencro; her son and daughter-in-law, William
"Billy" Brister Jr. and Jennifer Wax Brister; a
sister, Beth Hartzog, Kenner; a brother, Joe
"Socks" Martin, Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren
and a great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her paternal
grandparents, Meluis Martin and Marie Loland; maternal
grandparents, Antoine Carbo and Elizabeth Gonzales;
parents, Ernest Martin Sr. and Mary Carbo Martin; sisters,
Clara Diez, Bea Armstrong and Lydia Babin; brothers,
Ernest Martin Jr. and Nelson Martin; and a son, Terry
