Died Wednesday
evening, June 10, 1992, at the Medical Center of Baton Rouge. He
was 60j, a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired
commander with Louisiana State Police Troop A, a U.S. Army veteran
of the Korean Conflict and a former LSU football player. Visiting
at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., 11 a.m. until religious
services at 2:30 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Gary Morgan.
Music will be conducted by the Rev. Andy Shepard of the Comite
Baptist Church. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by
wife Erma Mitchell, Baton Rouge; three daughters, Carla Dunaway,
Zachary, Jamie Pino, Pride, Terri Westbrook, Baton Rouge; three
sons-in-law, Ricky Dunaway Sr., William Robert Westbrook and Roy
Pino; a son, Marty Mitchell, Baton Rouge; a sister, Jean Waddle; a
brother-in-law, Hugh Waddle, both of Baton Rouge; a brother, Wayne
"Mitch" Mitchell, Baton Rouge; numerous nieces and
nephews; four grandsons, Ricky Dunaway Jr., Robert
"Bobby" Westbrook, Chase Mitchell Pino and Tyler Paul
Westbrook; three granddaughters, Kimberly and Melissa Dunaway and
Brittney Pino. Preceded in death by parents, James W. Mitchell and
Ina Noble Mitchell; and a brother, Normal Dale Mitchell. The
Louisiana State Police Troop A Honor Guard will serve as
pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are James P. Jones, Eldridge
Durbin, Paul Miller, Bo Garrison, David Coleman and Lynn Marcotte.
He was a member of the Comite Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, the
Louisiana State Troopers Association and a graduate of the FBI
Academy in 1972.
