Billy Reid Baughman

Classmates, friends, etc. Wednesday, May 30, 2007

Our classmate and dear friend, Billy Baughman, died at 7:00 a.m. this morning at Summit Hospital on O'Neal Lane, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Funeral arrangements will follow soon. He will be buried in Greenoaks Cemetery on Florida Blvd next to his wife, and our former classmate, Annie Lee Cook.

Billy had to use an oxygen tube to help him breathe for several years, but it did not seem to slow him down until recently. A few weeks ago he called 911 himself and asked for help. He walked to the ambulance when they got there. He was admitted to intensive care and things got worse. He died this morning.

Billy was a good friend of mine and I will miss him. He was a real "country boy" and loved his cows until the end. One time not too long ago he called me to say he was walking in his pasture and "found $500". He laughed and said one of his cows had a prize calf and it was worth at least $500. That was Billy, always close to nature and his family. He will be missed by all of us.   Farewell to a good friend!
