Margaret
Humphreys Sayers
Margaret Sayers took her
long awaited and rightful place with the Lord on Sunday, August
23, 2009.
She was born in Baton
Rouge, Louisiana to Howard Kaiser and Odessa Chenevert Humphreys
on April 17, 1932, the first of three children. She married the
love of her life on September 27, 1950 and they moved to Texas.
Margaret and J. D. settled in Pasadena in 1952 and raised all four
of their children there.
She was a loving and
selfless Mother and wife, and a devoted grandmother. Margaret
taught Sunday School for many years at Thomas Avenue Baptist
Church, served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girt Scout leader,
was a talented seamstress, a lifetime member of the PTA, was
blessed with a beautiful singling voice and helped her husband
build and run a successful business, which came to be known as
Pasadena Gun Center. She lived her life in service to her family
and set an example of love for all.
She is survived by her
husband of nearly 59 years, Joseph David (J.D) Sayers Sr.,
daughter Mary Helen Anderson (Phil), sons David Sayers (Jackie)
and De Lea Sayers (Nan), Ten beloved grandchildren and seventeen
great grandchildren, three sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law,
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her brother and sister and one daughter
Christine.
“Do not grieve long, for
her suffering has ended and her rest and reward are
everlasting”.
A Memorial Service will be
held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM in class rooms 1 &
2 at Bayshore Hospital, 400 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX.
Those wishing to make a
donation in Margaret’s honor, in lieu of flowers, may do so to
the Boy Scouts of America, the American Heart Association, the
American Diabetes Association or the NRA.
