"Bill" 

A retired maintenance foreman for Kaiser Aluminum and LaRoche Industries with 43 years of service, he passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home. He was 76, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of East St. Louis, Ill. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, 28th General Hospital. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home was on Friday, Sept. 7, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, Sept. 8, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Tom Duhé. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Abadie 
Carmack ; two daughters, Debra Lynn Thurston and husband Raymond and Cindy Jean Carmack ; son, Gary MichaelCarmack and wife Kyla; sister, Lawanda "Bunny" Fly and husband Ronald; eight grandchildren, Kayla Carmack , JordanCarmack , Drew Carmack , Grant Distefano, Ryan Distefano, Christina Distefano, Ken Thurston and Cathy Parson; three greatgrandchildren, Bryce Distefano, Ryan Knippers and Sara Goodin; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded indeath by his parents, Charles Irvin and Anna Barbara Carmack ; and sisters, Bernice Carmack and Norma Delatte. Pallbearers will be Warren Munster, Jordan Carmack , Drew Carmack , Grant Distefano, Ryan Distefano, George Holloway and Mark Scully. The family would like to give a very special thanks to the staff of the Louisiana War Veterans Home. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
